Join us for a morning workshop where Fred Pierre, Asst. Head of Library Systems at Stow Munroe Falls Public Library, will talk about his library's augmented reality campaign, where they have created and designed AR posters, flyers, treasure hunts and more! You will also learn how to make your own augmented reality, so bring a device to play along!
In the afternoon, Mel McGee from We Can Code IT will discuss the importance of coding and how to teach it more effectively through "computational thinking," to children and adults alike. She will also discuss the lack of diversity in the coding industry and how libraries can be that bridge to creating better diversity and more effective coding skills, at any age!
Holly Klingler will give you an exclusive look into her trip at the Consumer Electronic Show, the biggest event in the tech industry, and show you the new tech gadgets that have been announced worldwide. Many of these devices aren't out on the market yet, but you will get a glance into the emerging tech that might soon hit the commercial world and your library.
Finally, we will have our Tech Lab available for you to try out! There are many new tech toys that have been added since the last Symposium, including Cardboard VR, the Moto 360 smart watch, LittleBits Cloud and even a Drone! Come experience all the new emerging tech!
