Re-introducing the Library Career Development Series. This series is intended for staff other than MLIS-librarians: public relations, technology, paraprofessionals, administration staff,
circulation, and others who consider their job a career.
This series will give paraprofessionals and support staff insight into the workings of a library from the history to the corporate culture. This series will provide participants with more confidence in their every -day work through the personal growth opportunities that will be offered throughout the program. This series will focus on three areas, personal growth, increased knowledge of the function of libraries and the important role that the participants play in the library and how the library benefits from these particular employees.
Location
NEO Office 1580 Georgetown Rd. Hudson, OH 44236 UNITED STATES
This first session will focus on Libraries Then & Now and Self Awareness.
The presentation relates the historical development of libraries to the library of today. What are the common and unique themes, challenges and purposes that libraries have faced over time and what can we learn from the past about the challenges we face today?
Self Awareness: Myers-Briggs Type Indicator , Presented by Marti Peden
The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) assessment provides a useful method for understanding people by looking at eight personality preferences that everyone uses at different times. One of the most critical aspects of the MBTI is that it identifies preferences, not abilities or skills. It is designed to bring type awareness to those who might find growth and learning within its ideas. You will have fun exploring and validating your type preferences. The MBTI is the most popular assessment in the world and has been applied as a tool for many years by a variety of users around the globe.
