Details
On August 28th 2017, the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) released its long-awaited update to hedge accounting standards with the objective of simplifying the application of hedge accounting and better portraying the economic results of an entity’s risk management activities in financial statements. Our discussion will include the following topics, among others:
  • Less burdensome hedge effectiveness testing
  • Eliminating hedge ineffectiveness measurement
  • Income statement presentation of impact from hedging instrument
  • Derivative components excluded from hedge relationship
  • Ability to change effectiveness testing for net investment hedges
  • Hedges of interest rate risk
  • Hedges of non-financial items – commodity risk

Please join us for a discussion as to how these changes will impact hedge programs.
