150TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE GOLDEN SPIKE IN PROMONTORY, UTAH.
150TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE LATITUDE AND LONGITUDE STATIONS IN SALT LAKE CITY BY THE USC&G SURVEY.
150TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE PARTIAL RETRACEMENT AND RESURVEY NORTH, SOUTH, EAST AND WEST OF THE SALT LAKE MERIDIAN, UTAH’S PRINCIPAL MERIDIAN. (Originally established in 1855).
150TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE 1869 DESCENT OF THE GREEN AND COLORADO RIVERS THROUGH UTAH BY JOHN WESLEY POWELL. He returned in 1871 completing his surveying and mapping of both rivers. Powell later served as director of the US Geological Survey between 1881 and 1894.
150TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE WHEELER SURVEY IN THE GREAT BASIN. One of the “Four Great Surveys of the West”. An astronomical monument still exists in the desert north of Salt Lake.
