Please join the NWAFP on April 15th as we dive into the topic of “Treasury in a fast growth company”. During the event, we will hear from Ed Barrie, Senior Director of Treasury for Salesforce, Bilkay Rose, VP of Global Payments for Avalara Inc and John Zavaglia, Treasurer for Remitly who will provide their perspective on the role of a Treasury organization within a rapidly-growing company. Topics would also include but are not limited to: the unique challenges their businesses have been facing, how a rapidly-scaling business model presents treasury challenges, how technology is evolving, and their view on the future of payments and receipts on the end user experience..

Ed Barrie, CTP:  Ed Barrie is the Senior Director, Treasury for Salesforce.com and its wholly owned subsidiary Tableau Software, which provides the industry leading data visualization and analytics software that helps people see and understand their data.  Ed has been with Tableau Software since November 2015 and is responsible for global treasury management.  Ed and his team earned the Treasury & Risk 2020 Alexander Hamilton award for Technology Excellence, Treasury Today 2018 Adam Smith Award for the category of Harnessing the Power of Technology as a result of driving advanced cash, payments and investment analytics as well as a 2019 Adam Smith Highly Commended Award for Best Card Solution in partnership with Bank of America.

Prior to joining Tableau Software, Ed spent 6 years at Itron, Inc. as Assistant Treasurer and 7 years at Microsoft’s Global Treasury Department as Group Manager. Additional recognitions include Treasury Today 2014 Adam Smith Award for Best Process Re-engineering Solution and the runner up for the GTNews.com 2014 Treasury Technology Award for Best Treasury Technology Solution. Ed earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Eastern Washington University.

Bilkay Rose: Bilkay Rose is the VP, Global Payment Operations for Avalara, Inc., which provides industry leading Tax Compliance software and services for businesses around the world. Bilkay oversees the payment operations where she is responsible for remitting $15 billion in taxes annually to government agencies. Bilkay brings more than 20 years of leadership experience from a variety of technology industries, including wireless telecommunication, software development and services. Bilkay and her team earned the Treasury Today 2019 Adam Smith Highly Commended Award for Harnessing the Power of Technology in partnership with Bank of America’s technology teams.
 
Before she joined Avalara, Bilkay spent 4 years as Director of Revenue Assurance at Clearwire/Sprint wireless and 8 years in Western Wireless and T-Mobile Finance organizations.

John Zavaglia: John Zavaglia is the Treasurer for Remitly, which is a digital remittance service with a vision to transform the lives of immigrants and their families by providing the most trusted financial service products on the planet. His current primary focus is to build out scale in the treasury organization to enable the team to keep up with the outsized growth of the business. 

Prior to Remitly, John spent 7 years in Expedia as the Assistant Treasurer and 11 years with Deloitte & Touche in a mix of accounting and treasury consulting roles.  John holds a BA in Accounting from University of San Diego and is a Certified Public Accountant as well as a CFA Charter holder
