Southwest Regional Water District, an Equal Opportunity Employer, is accepting applications for a full- time General Maintenance position until filled. Applicants must possess a high school diploma and a valid driver’s license. This is a bargaining-unit position affiliated with IUOE (International Union of Operating Engineers). The pay range for the position is $17.08 - $26.28/hour, dependent on licensure, qualifications, and experience, plus a benefits package which includes participation in the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System. Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent.

LICENSURE AND/OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid Driver’s License; and
- Ohio Commercial Applicator License.

EQUIPMENT OPERATED: The following are examples only and are not intended to be all inclusive: motor vehicles; telephone, copier, mobile devices; mowing equipment; dolly/hand truck; various hand/power tools.

INHERENTLY HAZARDOUS OR PHYSICALLY DEMANDING WORKING CONDITIONS:
The employee has exposure to chemicals, including but not limited to, herbicides, pesticides, paint, solvents, and lubricants; exposure to loud noises, pumps, motors, and heavy equipment; exposure to weather conditions, rain, snow, wind, and sun. Heavy work involves lifting no more than 100 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

JOB DESCRIPTION AND WORKER CHARACTERISTICS
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION: (for purposes of 42 USC 12101)
- 95% General Maintenance: Lawn mowing and trimming; basic landscaping; application of herbicides and/or pesticides; parking lot and walkway snow removal; unloading delivery trucks; sorting, storing, and counting inventory; vehicle inspections; vehicle and equipment light maintenance; basic building maintenance, including such things as painting and cleaning.
- 5% Miscellaneous: Flagging/traffic control; material deliveries to work crews; provide extra help on work crews; etc.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
- Performs other duties as required.

MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE CHARACTERISTICS:
- Knowledge of: Basic landscaping skills; safe work practices.
- Skill in: Basic equipment and hand tool operation and safety.
- Ability to: Interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, picture, or schedule form; deal with problems involving several variables within familiar context; define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; understand, interpret and apply policies, rules, or regulations to specific situations; complete routine forms; respond to routine inquiries from supervisors; communicate effectively; develop and maintain effective working relationships; perform heavy work.
