Performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled utility maintenance work and operates a variety of light equipment in the
construction, operation, repair, maintenance and replacement of city utilities, streets, and infrastructure with a
concentration on the water distribution system. Actively supports and upholds the City’s stated mission and values.
MANDATORY MEMBER OF SNOW & ICE CONTROL TEAM

PAY RANGE: $23.1382 - $26.5749/per hour (Grade 2)

Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.); and
2. One (1) year of experience in the operation of light equipment relating to construction, maintenance or repair of
water distribution systems, sanitary/storm sewer collection systems and/or roadways, or equivalent; and
3. Possess a valid Ohio Driver’s License*; and
4. Possess a minimum of a Class B Ohio Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with tanker endorsement or obtain
within 6 months of position appointment*; and
5. Must be able to respond within a reasonable amount of time to emergencies and fulfill physical demands of the
position; and
6. Must be able and willing to work extended hours and demonstrate a work history of reliable attendance and
overtime response.
Additional requirement for Water Distribution Divisions only:
Obtain a minimum of an Ohio EPA Class I Water Supply Operator License*, Water Distribution Operator License*,
as determined by the Department Director or designee within two (2) years of appointment.
*Licensures must be maintained over the course of employment as a condition of employment within this classification

SELECTION PROCEDURES
1. Post internally and advertise externally. These may be done concurrently.
2. Applications/resumes screened by the Human Resource Director as well as a minimum of one additional person
from the supervisory staff of the Public Works Department.
3. Selected applicants will be interviewed by an oral interview panel consisting of a minimum of one supervisory
staff of the Public Works Department and a minimum of one designee of the Human Resources Department.
4. Applicant finalists may be administered skills assessment(s) and/or subsequent interviews if deemed necessary.
5. A recommendation will be made by the Human Resource Director to the City Manager for appointment to the position.
6. A conditional offer of employment will be extended by the City Manager.
7. A final offer will be extended by the City Manager upon successful completion of a satisfactory background
check, reference checks and a post-offer medical examination.
