JOB TITLE: MAINTENANCE ELECTRICIAN
DEPARTMENT: WASTEWATER IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: CHIEF OPERATOR POSITIONS SUPERVISED: NONE STATUS: FULL-TIME, NON-EXEMPT, BARGAINING UNIT

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Install, repair, monitor, and maintain all electrical equipment, components, controls, and metering devices associated with the wastewater treatment plant and lift station pumping facilities.
• Observe, interpret, collect, record, and organize data from gauges, meters, and other electrically driven devices.
• Perform preventative maintenance on electrical equipment and facilities.
• Perform electrical diagnostic work and recommend corrective actions on mechanical, electrical, and control equipment and systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance on all wastewater equipment such as meters, samplers, process equipment, motors, switches, panels, wiring, etc.
• Provide startup and logic programming for all wastewater control systems and electronic equipment devices.
• Prepare wiring diagrams and schematics for motor control centers and other electrical control systems.
• Review electrical plans and interact with operations, engineering consultants, contractors, public electric utilities, other electrical designers, and installers regarding electrical and control designs and installations for all wastewater treatment facilities.
• Perform maintenance and repair facilities and grounds.
• Operate wastewater treatment plant and collection system equipment when required.
• Troubleshoot and determine necessary actions for the electrical control systems of the collections system, including pump stations, level indication, motors, flow meters, feed pumps, VFDs, automatic transfer switches, and compressors.
• Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discuss machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problems or repair machines.
• Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective electrical parts.
• Installs and repairs electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment, when possible.
• Lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains electrical systems related to hydraulic and pneumatic equipment and repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.
• Operates plant vehicles and equipment.
• Repairs and maintains the physical structures of the establishment.
• Installs, programs, or repairs automated machinery and equipment such as programmable controllers.
• Generation of electrical-related procedures for facility Lock Out Tag Out.
• Performs other duties as assigned.



Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. • Associate’s Degree from a two-year (2) college or technical school, and three (3) years paid experience in installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical equipment, wiring, controls, including electronic equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively.
• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
• Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Ability to recognize potentially unsafe conditions and behaviors and correct them in a positive and appropriate manner.
• Ability to read and comprehend electrical schematics, blueprints, and diagrams.
• Must have knowledge of three-phase voltage and power controls.
• Must possess or obtain within two (2) years of date of employment a valid State of Ohio, Class B Commercial Driver’s License, and must have and maintain an acceptable driving record.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States.
• Must possess or obtain within two (2) years of employment and maintain a Class I Wastewater Operator Certification License issued by the Ohio EPA.
• Working knowledge of safety practices in the operation of electrical and mechanical equipment associated with wastewater treatment.

The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation, and vibration.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste and smell. The employee will frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

COMPENSATION: Enter at BARGAINING UNIT Level 1 $29.1312.
