The City of Solon has an opening for a full-time position of Operations Manager in the Water Reclamation Department. This position supervises and coordinates activities of the Water Reclamation department in the areas of Maintenance, Operations or Monitoring. The Operations Manager will perform a variety of skilled, technical, supervisory, and administrative duties in the planning, operation, maintenance of the city’s wastewater collection and treatment systems. This position will also supervise the department’s Industrial Pretreatment Program ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and recommends and implements enforcement actions when required.
The Operations Manager will be responsible for planning and scheduling the activities of the Water Reclamation Operations division to achieve efficient, quality wastewater treatment services for the City and maintain compliance with the NPDES permit, state and federal regulations. Responsibilities will also include supervising the Industrial Surcharge program and laboratory analysis of wastewater, biosolid and environmental samples to provide data for the efficient operation of the city’s Water Reclamation facility and to ensure compliance with permit and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
Qualified applicants must have a Bachelor of Science Degree in environmental science, biology, chemistry, public health, civil engineering or a closely related field from a four (4) year accredited college or university. A Class III or IV Wastewater certification and experience in the operation of water reclamation facilities may be substituted for formal education. A minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in water reclamation is required. In addition, applicants must have a Class III Wastewater Certification License issued by the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), State of Ohio driving privileges (required to drive a city vehicle as needed to perform job), successful completion of confined space entry safety training, and successful completion of training and certification in the operation of a fork lift.
Comments:
This position will be a grade level 14 on the City’s pay scale with a starting salary range of $68,517.79 - $82,221.34. City benefits include medical, prescription, dental, and vision. In addition, benefits include membership in the Ohio Public Employer’s Retirement System, life insurance, vacation, sick leave accruals and select paid holidays.
