Ohio State University Extension is announcing a search for our next Assistant Director for 4-H Youth Development. The position is posted at go.osu.edu/ohio4had.
The assistant director and state 4-H leader provides overall direction and administrative leadership for 4-H Youth Development programming throughout Ohio. Our premier youth development experts and programs reach about 180,000 youth across the state, and coordinate with more than 24,000 adult and teen volunteers each year. The assistant director will also work collaboratively with the Ohio 4-H Foundation.
The assistant director will set the strategic direction of Ohio 4-H; and will lead the 4-H programs that are offered in all of Ohio’s 88 counties and are administered through the county Extension office. Guidance and support to for programs is provided by a state-level office team. The assistant director will also establish productive relationships with internal and external partners of Ohio 4-H, including but not limited to: other Extension program areas, CFAES administration and central support units, academic units in CFAES and across the university, county commissioners, fair organizations/boards, and other local partners who collaborate with 4-H.
This position will be a 100% Extension administrative, full-time, tenure-track, 12-month appointment. It will be statewide and Columbus-based. An earned master’s degree is required, PhD preferred, in youth development, human development, public administration, agricultural and/or Extension education, general education, or a related field.
The position will be filled by a candidate who could qualify as a tenured associate professor or professor. This means teaching, research, and service will be evaluated based on the department’s promotion and tenure criteria to determine eligibility for a faculty position at these senior ranks.
The assistant director reports to the director of OSU Extension and serves as a member of the Extension Administrative Cabinet.
