The Director of Finance serves on the Leadership Team, providing input and guidance to the Executive Director and Board of Directors on the organization’s financial position and risk management. This role involves hands-on work with accounting, financial reporting, tax and audit management, and financial controls. As a nonprofit, the position includes overseeing government grant reconciliations, reporting, and audits, as well as regular reconciliations with general fundraising.
This key leadership position requires deep knowledge of financial systems, nonprofit accounting, and grant audits within a fast-growing family shelter. Partnering with the Senior Leadership Team and board members will enable the Director of Finance to support a strong understanding of Family Promise’s ability to meet the needs of our houseless guests.
Pay Scale: $95,000 to $120,000/year, DOE + benefits
Work Hours: This position is considered full-time. As an exempt salaried employee, there are no set hours for this position. Generally, this position is expected to be available and working during normal business hours, which are currently 8am-6pm Monday through Friday. At times, the needs of the business may require work outside of these hours.

Physical Demands:
The work environment is typical of standard office settings. Employees sit often, including for computer work. Reaching will be required involving extending arms in any direction. Office equipment, such as a computer and telephone will be used, requiring the use of hands and fingers to manipulate a keyboard or keypad. Visual ability to read a computer screen or written documents is necessary. Hearing is necessary to receive detailed information through oral communication. Consistent and regular attendance is required to ensure course scheduling is not disrupted.
Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
Professional experience in a financial management role, ideally with at least 2 years in a non-profit organization.
5+ years of professional experience in a financial management role
2+ years of direct report management experience.
Strong analytical skills and experience translating a strategic vision into an operational model.
Familiarity with non-profit accounting standards and experience with grant accounting.
Proficient in MS Suite and Google Docs, experience with database management
Proficient in accounting software (esp. QuickBooks Online)
Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
Due to federal funding, drug use, including marijuana, is prohibited during employment.

Desired Qualifications:
CPA or Master’s degree in Business Administration
2+ years experience in managing federal grant financial compliance.
Experience working in social services.
Experience working in HRIS/Payroll platforms (ADP WFN/Gusto)
