ARS Traveling Teacher Jody Miller Conducts Phase 2 of Carolina Mountains Recorder Society Chapter’s Traveling Teacher Grant

On August 6 in Hendersonville, NC, ARS Traveling Teacher Jody Miller conducted the second of three in-person workshops allowed by Carolina Mountains Recorder Society’s ARS Traveling Teacher Grant. Our chapter welcomed over 20 participants from North and South Carolina, Tennessee, and beyond (thanks to our added Zoom option enabled by the technical skills of Jamie and Sharen Hafner.)

Our workshop theme is Music of the European Courts; the second workshop took us to the court of Elizabeth I during England’s conversion from Catholicism to Protestantism.  Jody led us through music of Tallis, Byrd, and Gibbons, some of the Elizabethan court’s most important composers.

The final segment of our Traveling Teacher Grant workshop series will be Saturday, October 8, in-person in Hendersonville, NC, and on Zoom.  Anyone interested in participating or scheduling a private lesson with Jody Miller before or after the workshop should contact Sharen Hafner at shafner@comporium.net.

ARS’s Traveling Teacher Grants are a generous, innovative way for ARS chapters everywhere to energize themselves with new teachers.  Grant applications and listing of teachers participating in this unique grant program are available on the ARS website here

CMRS Zoom technician Jamie Hafner makes the workshop available to all CMRS studies music from the Elizabethan Court with Jody Miller
