CPAN – Coalition Protecting Auto No Fault
CPAN Response to Secretary of State Anti-Fraud Announcement
CPAN has issued the following statement in response to today's announcement by Secretary of State Ruth Johnson on her office's effort to crack down on auto insurance fraud:

"We are encouraged by Secretary of State Johnson's announcement that she will be using her authority to address auto insurance fraud in Michigan," said CPAN Spokesperson Josh Hovey. "CPAN members have argued for years that addressing fraud should be made a priority to help reduce costs for consumers.

"However, policymakers should also be aware that fraud goes both ways. Filing false claims or submitting fake proof of auto insurance is just as fraudulent as insurance companies that deny legitimate claims for seriously injured people."
