Welcome to the Eta Zeta Chapter of Sigma Kappa Delta
Welcome to Sigma Kappa Delta, Eta Zeta Chapter, the English Honor Society at Ventura College! We are a community of readers and thinkers who celebrate a love for reading, engaging ideas, and meaningful discussions. Our society is specifically designed for students at two-year community colleges, and we’re not just for English majors—we welcome anyone with a passion for literature, writing, and the power of language.
Joining Sigma Kappa Delta means becoming part of a supportive and dynamic group that values academic excellence and fosters intellectual growth. To become a member, you simply need to have completed at least 12 semester hours of college credit, including 3 semester hours of college-level English, with a minimum overall GPA of 3.0.
If you love literature, enjoy exploring new ideas, and want to connect with like-minded students, Sigma Kappa Delta is the place for you!
What We Do & Benefits of MembershipThis club provides opportunities to interact with others interested in literature and to participate in on-campus activities.
Sigma Kappa Delta invites undergraduate students at colleges with active chapters. Membership recognizes academic excellence in English language, writing, and literature. Benefits include:
- Academic Recognition: Personalized membership certificate and official pin.
- Scholarships: Eligible for scholarships up to $750.
- Writing Awards: Submit papers for publication and monetary prizes in Hedera helix.
- Annual Convention: Submit papers for presentation, attend sessions, and hear from authors.
- Leadership & Community Service: Compete for officer roles and participate in community service.
- Career Advancement: Use membership to boost professional success.
- Lifetime Fellowship: Network with members through activities on and off our campus of Ventura College
