Lisa Young, MA,CCC-SLP earned her M.A. in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Maryland, College Park and her M.A. in Linguistics from the University of California, San Diego.  She participated in research studies with the National Institute on Deafness and other Communication Disorders (NIDCD) and the University of Maryland in the areas of aphasia, Parkinson’s Disease, epilepsy, and fluency disorders.  Lisa has been working as a medical speech-language pathologist since 2008. She has a strong passion for evidence-based assessment and therapy, having earned five ASHA Awards for Professional Participation in Continuing Education.  She launched EatSpeakThink.com in June 2018 to help other clinicians be more successful working in home health, as well as to provide strategies and resources to people living with problems eating, speaking, or thinking.

Course Description: This presentation will focus on what takes place when patients go home.  All aspects of patients receiving therapy in the home will be explored.  Starting with the role of the therapist providing discharge information prior to the patient going home to the therapist putting together all the pieces upon arrival at home.  Goal setting and goal writing with the focus on functional and meaningful goals for the patient will be discussed.  The unique challenges and advantages of providing treatment in the home setting will be demonstrated using case studies.
Upon Completion of this course, participants will be able to:  
  • Explain the challenges and advantages of providing therapy in the home setting
  • Describe the importance of finding and writing meaningful goals in every setting 
  • Define the importance of communication across the continuum of care as it relates to patient outcomes

In order to receive credit for this course participants must complete the following requirements:
  • attend entire course
    • sign in on time and stay for the entire course
    • partial credits not allowed
  • complete program evaluation
    • must be completed within 7 days of completion of course
    • certificate of completion will be awarded upon receipt

Refund Policy
Refund requests must be submitted in writing via email. Requests made more than 10 business days prior to course date will be subject to an administration fee of $15 of the registration fee if an additional cost is associated with the course.  Membership fees will not be refunded if member is not able to attend conferences that are included with annual fee.  Refund requests made less than 10 business days prior to any course that requires an additional fee for the course are subject to a $25 administrative fee.  This is to cover the costs associated with the course that have already been accrued based on preregistration.  No refunds for non-attendance will be issued on the day of, or after, the conference.
Cancellation Policy
If MSCC cancels a course that requires an additional registration fee, all members who have prepaid for the course will be refunded the registration fee in the form of the original payment within 30 business days of the cancellation of the course.   MSCC membership fee will not be refunded.
