Event Description
Zina Rodriguez, MSW, MCAP, CDE is a social worker and a certified diversity executive. She collaborates with organizations on the development of Diversity Equity Inclusion Belonging (DEIB) strategies that align with their mission and values. She is a global speaker on topics related to culturally inclusive treatment and healthcare. She is passionate about co- creating inviting, intentional and inclusive healing spaces for individuals to achieve wellness while creating pathways for success for individuals from underrepresented communities. Zina serves as a Board Member for the National Association of Treatment Providers, Young People in Recovery, C4 Recovery Foundation and Simplifyance. She has also served as an adjunct professor at Rutgers University School of Social Work and holds a MSW from Fordham University and a BSW degree from Rutgers University.

Course Description: Embark on a journey of self-discovery and cultural understanding in our two-hour enriching webinar as we navigate the complexities of cultural responsiveness, empowering you to cultivate a more inclusive and culturally sensitive perspective.  In this dynamic session, we will explore the vital link between ongoing self-reflection and building cultural responsiveness. Our facilitator will guide participants through practical strategies for continuous learning, fostering an environment of inclusivity and respect. The webinar will include interactive breakout sessions for a deeper and more personalized exploration of the topics discussed.
Upon Completion of this course, participants will:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of how cultural responsiveness influences effective communication in speech pathology.
  • Describe the role of ongoing self-reflection in promoting cultural awareness and responsiveness within the speech pathology profession.
  • Identify personalized self-reflection techniques that can be integrated into daily clinical practice to identify and address potential biases and enhance cultural competence.
9:00 – 9:30 (30 minutes): Introduction and Understanding Cultural Responsiveness
9:30 – 10:00 (30 minutes): Strategies for Continuous Learning and Breakout Session 1
10:00 – 10:30 (30 minutes): The Impact of Cultural Responsiveness and Personalized Techniques
10:30 – 10:45 (15 minutes): Breakout Session 2 and Summary
10:45 – 11:00 (15 minutes): Questions & Answers and Closing Remarks

In order to receive credit for this course participants must complete the following requirements:
  • attend entire course
    • sign in on time and stay for the entire course
    • partial credits not allowed
  • complete program evaluation
    • must be completed within 7 days of completion of course
    • certificate of completion will be awarded upon receipt

Refund Policy
Refund requests must be submitted in writing via email. Requests made more than 10 business days prior to course date will be subject to an administration fee of $15 of the registration fee if an additional cost is associated with the course.  Membership fees will not be refunded if member is not able to attend conferences that are included with annual fee.  Refund requests made less than 10 business days prior to any course that requires an additional fee for the course are subject to a $25 administrative fee.  This is to cover the costs associated with the course that have already been accrued based on preregistration.  No refunds for non-attendance will be issued on the day of, or after, the conference.

Cancellation Policy
If MSCC cancels a course that requires an additional registration fee, all members who have prepaid for the course will be refunded the registration fee in the form of the original payment within 30 business days of the cancellation of the course.   MSCC membership fee will not be refunded.
