Let’s explore this captivating fipple flute indigenous to North America -- the Native American Style Flute. From its ancient roots to its modern form and the “Renaissance of the Native American Flute,” we’ll learn about this simple yet expressive instrument. We’ll hear how it sounds. We’ll explore scales and some types of music that might be played by it. Plus we can look at the distinct embellishments that characterize this flute, and how we can use our recorders to experiment with the style on our own instrument. Bring your tenor and soprano recorders (alto is also OK if you don’t have soprano or tenor).
