The push to decarbonize building systems continues to evolve in Colorado. Led by Denver initiatives around Benchmarking/reporting of energy use, IEEC Code Amendments, and most recently, the Colorado State Model Code, the present and future impacts on the built space cannot be ignored. The consequences are felt across a broad spectrum of new-build and renovation projects, from the addition of EV charging infrastructure to the elimination of gas-fired heating and cooking equipment.
This presentation will address the current state of the code requirements in both the Denver Code and State Model Code from the trade partner perspective. Time will also be given to highlight the impacts of the evolving enforcement around these codes and early design phase decisions and their associated Electrical and Mechanical trade offs. Finally, the discussion will delve into the effects of design decisions on ongoing operation and benchmarking compliance with the life cycle of a building.
