Advancing competitive, integrated employment (CIE) through employer engagement involves actively partnering with businesses to create meaningful, sustainable job opportunities for people with disabilities. Strategies to foster employer engagement include raising awareness, building partnerships, providing support, and leveraging technology. 

In this webinar, Arkansas Developmental Disabilities Council Executive Director Jonathan Taylor will reflect on his professional experiences during his career and offer practical tips for engaging with employers to advance CIE. Gretchen Newton, director of Business Engagement for Arkansas Rehabilitation Services, will also speak. The presentation and panel discussion will cover: 

• The importance of building relationships with employers to advance CIE
• The business advantages of hiring people with disabilities
• Innovative strategies for building a community of employer champions
• Success stories from a state vocational rehabilitation agency and self-advocates on their experiences engaging with employers

Registrants can note accommodation needs — such as captioning or sign language — on the registration page. The webinar will be live captioned (with Spanish machine translations) and have ASL interpretation available. Webinars are recorded and posted with supporting materials on the Disability Employment Technical Assistance Center (DETAC) website.
