Plant Description: The City of Greenville completed a WWTP expansion in 2023 from 1.75 MGD to 2.86 MGD average day flow. In the process, they introduced two new treatment technologies to the State of Michigan: Primary Belt Filters and Aerobic Granular Sludge (AGS). The plant now includes a screening building with a 3/8” bar screen; a headworks building including a quadplex pump station, vortex grit channel, primary belt filters, primary sludge holding tank, and PD pump; a 380,000 gallon circular concrete EQ Tank; three (3) AGS treatment tanks with an attached pipe gallery; and a chlorine contact chamber. The sludge is treated using a 2-stage digestion system then held in a sludge storage tank equipped with a jet mixer. The decommissioned primary settling tanks, oxidation towers and clarifiers are still on site and operable.
