Join Us for the 10th Annual ODGCSA Scholarship Tournament at Royal New Kent Golf Club!
We’re thrilled to announce that the 10th Annual ODGCSA Scholarship Tournament will be held at the stunning Royal New Kent Golf Club on Tuesday, April 22nd. This exciting event promises a day of networking with industry peers, all while enjoying some friendly competition on the course.
The day will kick off with a lively Bloody Mary, Transfusion, and Screwdriver Bar, followed by a shotgun start at 10:00 am. On-course beverages and a box lunch will be provided. After golf will be a BBQ during the awards reception.
Each year, ODGCSA proudly awards scholarships to dedicated individuals working at golf courses with a VGCSA member. These scholarships help to support the next generation of turf professionals, and this event is critical to raising the funds that make it possible. In addition, we continue to support turf professionals furthering their careers through scholarships towards the VT-Stem Turf Program.

Royal New Kent has been called “the truest representation of an Irish links in America” and is reminiscent of the Irish Landscape where links courses such as Royal County Down and Ballybunion were built. The landing areas are wide, therefore, played from the correct set of tees for different levels of ability the tee shot is not too dangerous. This is a course that requires focus and concentration on the second shots as there are varieties of danger and difficulty lurking. The newly transitioned Champions Bermuda greens are very large and provide inviting targets with bold swales and ridges. They are hidden behind sharp, grassy knolls, hand stacked rock walls and tall fescue grass. Each hole offers several playing options to fit a wide range of golfer abilities. The 282 acres presents golfers with open spaces and panoramic vistas unlike any other course in the east coast. The new tag line is “Golf Ireland in Virginia”.

New Format for 2025
Both players on a team hit their tee shots, and then the team chooses the best of the two shots. From that point, both players hit their second shots from that location, and the team continues to play in the same manner—choosing the best shot and playing from that spot until the hole is completed.
