Plant Description: The City of Cheboygan's Wastewater Treatment Plant was originally constructed in 1946, modified in 1975, 1998 and again in 2024. The Rotating Biological contactor plant was upgraded to Oxidation Ditch. Recent updates include; Bar Screen, Grit Removal, Pumps, Flow meters, additional Final Clarifier, 1 Ton Chlorine to Ultraviolet disinfection.
The WWTP upgrades focused on giving our staff the tools to treat the wastewater to the NPDES permit requirements. Come tour the investment that the City has made to provide the treatment needs of the residents while protecting the Cheboygan River.
