Membership Committee Chair Dr. Helen Wojcinski (helenwojcinski@gmail.com) cordially invites
all AVMHS members, their colleagues, and friends to join a special webinar on Tuesday
December 9th, 2025, from 8 – 9 pm EDT (5 pm PT) via Zoom videoconferencing.

Dr. Uhl’s talk is part of AVMHS’s fall membership appeal. One of the Committee’s goals is to host
webinars both to engage current Society members and to attract new members.

The Zoom invitation link will be sent to all members and non-members (guests ask for link from
avmhs.info@gmail.com) prior to the webinar.
We encourage our members to “invite a friend” to join the webinar, such as someone who may
be interested in veterinary history and might become a member.

Background on Dr. Elizabeth Uhl

Elizabeth Uhl DVM, PhD, DACVP, is a veterinary pathologist at the University of Georgia with
over 25 years of experience in teaching, diagnostic veterinary pathology and animal
model research.
Her research has developed from passions for pathology, evolution, history, bones, and horses.
Her current interests in evolutionary medicine and One Paleopathology have facilitated
investigations of the evolution-based susceptibilities, pathological manifestations, and
contextual factors that determined the occurrences and impacts of human, animal and plant
diseases across time.
Current projects include an atlas of lesions in animal skeletal remains, evolutionary perspectives
on historic and modern animal diseases, whole body functional modelling of the
pathomechanics of equine degenerative joint diseases, and the functional and disease
implications of the body’s tensegrity-based structure.

All her research experiences have emphasized the critical importance and rich rewards of cross-
disciplinary collaborations.
