Event Description
March 6-8 - Leiter Clinic organized by Southern Yacht Club - Southern Yacht Club, New Orleans, LA - sailed in C420/ILCA4/ILCA 6
Application deadline January 15th

This clinic was started in the late 1990s, and initially, only the top junior women sailors who competed in the US Sailing Championships were invited.  The purpose was to help junior women increase their racing skills to (1) beat the boys (always a Nancy Leiter Clagett goal) and (2) to help the top junior women be competitive on the international level (a Tom Clagett goal).  These are still the goals.
The clinic is now OPEN TO ALL JUNIOR WOMEN SAILORS under age 19.

Unlike most of the clinics held before a championship, this clinic is unique.  This is a friendly event with the sailors willing to share ideas and build lasting friendships.  If at all possible, this is a must-attend clinic for all those junior women who want to get really good at racing.
It is very affordable, thanks to a grant from Stephanie McLennan, granddaughter of Tom Clagett and Nancy Leiter Clagett, after whom the Leiter Cup is named.

Housing and transportation to and from the airport are provided.
