Event Description
Data sharing is critical for evidence-based decision making for health security and resilience. The One Health approach, which is founded on the interconnectedness of human, plant, animal, and environmental health, demonstrates the need for data sharing and cross-disciplinary interoperability. Barriers such as incompatible data and systems, lack of interdisciplinary coordination, and lack of enabling policies limit data sharing capacity in the U.S. and globally, hindering progress toward health security. The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine Forum on Microbial Threats will host a webinar series in 2024-2025. Speakers will identify barriers as well as success stories, spur information exchange, and highlight potential future actions to advance data sharing through a One Health lens.
