Tuesday March 3, 2026 4:30 p.m.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
This training will review the foundational components of specially designed instruction
for gifted students. We will discuss how SDI for Gifted is distinct from differentiated
instruction, which special education services are (and are not) available to students with
giftedness, and look at examples of strategies and practices to ensure the delivery of
individualized specially designed instruction for gifted students.
Deborah currently works as a consultant for the GSTAD project, part of the Kansas
Technical Assistance System Network (TASN), as a member of the Technical Assistance
Team (TAT), providing technical assistance and training on evaluation and eligibility for
special education, IEP development for IDEA and gifted students, and secondary
transition. Resources for these and other TASN activities are available at the TASN
website www.ksdetasn.org. Previously, Deb helped in the creation of professional
development materials and training for the Kansas Multi-Tier System of Supports
