ILASFAA Brown Bag - ILASFAA Strategic Plan & Dependency Overrides for Homeless Students
Do you wish you could discuss some hot topics with your peers in a casual but meaningful way? Share questions and walk away with a few ideas from others?
The ILASFAA Training & Professional Development Committee is hosting another “Brown Bag Discussion”, allowing financial aid administrators to get together virtually (see each other!), discuss current topics and share ideas.
Our next Brown Bag Discussion will be Thursday, August 6th at Noon and our topics will be – the ILASFAA Strategic Plan and Dependency Overrides for Homeless Students. Please bring your questions and ideas.
The ILASFAA leadership is planning the upcoming 2022-2025 Strategic Plan. What do you think ILASFAA should focus on in the next four years? We invite you to offer your thoughts, comments, and feedback to guide us as we look ahead to our future. For more information on what ILASFAA has been focusing on currently, please see the four strategic areas that were outlined in the previous 2019-2021 Strategic Plan.
Dependency Overrides for Homeless Students:
How do you identify these students?
What is your process? What documentation do you require? Statement? Form? Documentation from a third party?
What process do you have in place for renewal?
How would you handle this situation? Student is unaccompanied and lives on their own. They previously were approved for being at risk of being homeless due to letters from professionals. Student now claims they are at risk of being homeless due to the fact that if they lost their financial aid, they’d lose their housing. They claim to use their independent-level financial aid to pay for everything. Are they considered at risk of being homeless?
Please mark your calendar!! We look forward to seeing you!
To join the meeting, you may have to load Microsoft Teams to your computer or desktop. It is free and easy to use. You can use your computer or phone for audio – if using phone, please mute computer volume. Please join a few minutes before Noon, mute your phone and activate your camera!
