American Association of Food Safety & Public Health Veterinarians
Dr. Karyn Bischoff will present "The Buzz on Bee Toxicology"
4:00 PM - 5:00 PM Eastern
Event Description

The ACVPM Continuing Education Committee is pleased to invite ACVPM diplomates, ACVPM exam candidates, and active members of our partner organizations, the National Association of Federal Veterinarians, the American Association of Food Safety and Public Health Veterinarians, and the US Animal Health Association, to an upcoming continuing education webinar.

Dr. Karyn Bischoff will present "The Buzz on Bee Toxicology".  As dramatic global insect declines make the news and the world begins to speculate on the impact of the catastrophic loss of natural pollinators, veterinarians have become more critical than ever in management of domestic bees. As beekeeping becomes more popular in cities, we learn more about unique urban and industrial toxicants that can affect bees and honey production. Finally, because bees are food-producing animals, exposure to toxicants impacts the human food chain. Dr. Bischoff will discuss recent pesticide-related honey bee die-offs; describe a variety of pollutants and natural toxins affecting honey bee colonies; and provide an overview of the implications of contaminants in bee products.

Participants must attend at least 50 minutes of the webinar to receive a one hour CE certificate.

The webinar is RACE approved and also is approved for continuing education credit for veterinarians licensed in the State of New York.
