American Association of Food Safety & Public Health Veterinarians
new event
2:00 PM - 3:00 PM Pacific
Event Description
The presentation will provide information about the National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility (NBAF) in Manhattan, KS, its mission of protecting the nation’s agricultural interests against the threat and potential impact of a serious animal disease, and the importance of protecting the livestock industry through research. NBAF will replace and expand on the mission of Plum Island Animal Disease Center (PIADC), a biosafety level-3 facility that is more than 68 years old. Currently, USDA’s Agricultural Research Service (ARS) and Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) conduct foreign animal disease research, training and diagnostics in this center. ARS and APHIS will transfer their missions from PIADC to NBAF and will operate the facility jointly to achieve this mission. Participants must attend at least 50 minutes of the webinar to receive a one hour CE certificate.
