Event Description
Join the DCFR for a conversation with Pamela K. Starr, author of The Making of Mexico, professor of the practice of international relations at the University of Southern California, nonresident fellow with the Mexico Program at the Inter-American Dialogue, and senior adviser at Monarch Global Strategies.

A leading expert on Mexico’s politics, economy, security, and relationship with the United States, Dr. Starr has published widely and advised policymakers on both sides of the border, including a former U.S. Secretary of State and a former Mexican foreign minister. She is also a frequent commentator in U.S., Mexican, and international media.

The conversation will explore the historical experiences and informal norms that continue to shape modern Mexico - shaping its political dynamics, economic performance, security challenges, and approach to the United States. Through this lens, Dr. Starr will provide an essential framework for understanding current developments in Mexico and the future of one of America’s most consequential, yet often least understood, international relationships.
