PLANT DESCRIPTION: The North Kent Sewer Authority (NKSA) PARCC-side plant processes an average daily flow of 4 Million Gallons per Day (MGD) and is able to treat 6 MGD on an average basis. Key treatment areas include the Headworks building where large solids are physically removed and grit is removed, bioreactor tanks for nutrient removal, membrane filters to separate water from the residual solids, and UV channels to disinfect before discharge into the Grand River. Residual solids are thickened by screw presses and stored before ultimate disposal at the landfill.
