the Academy invites you to our first Astro-tourism themed Field Trip. NAS has partnered with the Nebraska Star Party to bring you this cool experience. Take a bus from Lincon or Kearney, or travel yourself to Valentine, Nebraska. the Star Party will be offering lectures, including Children's talks, vendors, food and community. At night, we'll leave Valentine and head out to Merritt Reservoir, which is an officially recognized Dark Sky, to view the night lights put off by the cosmos. Bring your own tent, or see if NAS has one you can borrow, and stay up watching the stars and then sleep under them. Dr. Joel Berrier, Chair and Associate Professor at UNK's Department of Physics and Astronomy will serve as the Scientific Lead on this excursion, and will answer questions and present talks about what we see in the night sky.
