POSITION SUMMARY



The Coordinator is a key member of the Financial Aid department and works closely with the Director and Assistant Director, staff, and colleagues in the CWI community to coordinate a full range of financial aid services and programs. In addition to being an experienced Financial Aid staff member who participates in all aspects of financial aid administration, counseling, and support, the Coordinator will provide leadership and program management for the specialized areas of work-study, scholarships from the Idaho State Board of Education, CWI Foundation Scholarships, CWI Institutional Scholarships, and other financial aid programs as assigned. The Coordinator acts as a liaison between the financial aid unit and other CWI departments, staff, as well as community groups and other CWI constituents; and interacts collaboratively to plan, process, coordinate, and deliver financial aid funds to students efficiently in support of CWI’s student success priorities.





ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB





Provides strong leadership and excellent customer service to the CWI community including, but not limited to: need analysis, verification, packaging financial aid funds from federal, institutional, state, and other sources, counseling/advising students, running reports, analyzing data, interpreting policy, public speaking, training other staff, and fostering a culture of quality and excellence.
Work closely with other student services and enrollment management staff to provide complete and accurate financial aid information and excellent service to students.
Maintains expert-level knowledge of applicable policies, procedures, regulations, rules, statutes and laws related to financial aid. Assists the CWI community in ongoing compliance efforts.
Provides expert financial aid guidance and support to other CWI staff, students, parents, and their families.
Coordinates the delivery of institutional, outside, CWI Foundation, and state scholarships to students while ensuring compliance with applicable federal financial aid rules/regulations.
Works closely and independently with other CWI departments, faculty, and staff to promote the CWI Work-Study program and provides operational support to work-study supervisors.


Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline.
3 years of experience, including prior mentoring/coaching experience in a college/university financial aid office or similar setting.
Strong cross-cultural interpersonal and writing skills are necessary, including public speaking skills and ability to represent the college in a positive way to diverse populations.
Strong critical thinking skills, including thinking about the question as a whole, not just the answer to the question. Experience in scrutinizing why the question was asked in the first place.
Experience at being a self-starter and able to work independently, including taking ownership of projects and solving complex problems.
Experience working in a community college setting serving a diverse, non-traditional student population, preferred.
Experience with Ellucian Colleague ERP or other major ERP systems, preferred.
Bilingual (Spanish/English), preferred.
