Under the leadership of the Executive Director of Financial Aid, this position counsels the vibrant CalArts student population in matters relating to financial aid such as scholarships, grants, loans, and on/off-campus employment opportunities. This position specializes in one or more financial aid programs and serves as the primary contact for students regarding eligibility for those programs.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage the administration of California Student Aid Commission (CSAC) funding
- Review student financial aid applications, determine eligibility, and prepare files
for awarding, including, but not limited to:
o verification of data and making corrections as needed;
o resolving Federal Database C-codes and mismatches by communicating with students and/or the responsible agency [i.e., U.S. Department of Education Processing System (CPS) and National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS)];
o identifying and resolving conflicting information;
o reviewing financial aid history;
o evaluating student statuses, such as Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) and transfer monitoring
- Complete recalculations/revisions related to enrollment, special circumstance appeals, SAP appeals, additional sources of aid, over awards, and overpayments
- Monitor and reconcile funds on a monthly, semester, and yearly basis with various offices on campus, U.S. Department of Education, and State of California
- Understand that student aid eligibility and programs are highly regulated
- Remain abreast of and adhere to current and forthcoming financial aid policies, rules, regulations and procedures
- Communicate effectively with students and parents regarding financial aid eligibility and awards
- Develop and implement outreach methods to assist students with obtaining financial aid
- Maintain confidentiality in all pertinent matters
- Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:
Required
- Bachelor’s Degree; OR Associate’s Degree with 2-years professional work experience
- Minimum 2-years financial aid experience
- Demonstrated analytical and communication skills
- Ability to work efficiently, independently, and collaboratively
- Self-starter, student service-oriented
- Exhibits effective reasoning
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google and Adobe applications

Preferred
- Prior experience with Ellucian Colleague software
- Familiarity with U.S. Department of Education databases
