The Student Services Advanced Specialist, Financial Aid will serve in a fast paced team environment as a high-level resource specialist in multiple areas of student services supporting the success of a diverse student population. The incumbent will provide extensive financial aid advising to students, families and the community. At least 80% of the time will be spent doing face to face, virtual or out-bound work for students either through outreach presentation or providing input for written communication.

The Student Services Advanced Specialist, Financial Aid will deliver general and targeted financial aid sessions, explain the different sources of aid as they relate to the different programs of study that the College offers, and explain the Free Application For Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) process, completion,and submission. The ideal candidate will possess a more in-depth level of knowledge of all of the financial aid policies and procedures, which become applicable when navigating the student through the various processes that occur upon FAFSA submission.

The work schedule for this position may include working evenings and weekends. Local travel may be required.

Duties and Responsibilities:
*Advise students on policies, procedures, and processes pertaining to multiple functional areas,targeted academic programs, and student populations
*Train and assist students to navigate the student portal and online student services processes
*Implement department operational procedures and processes in coordination with the District Office and other campus departments
*Make decisions and/or recommendations according to complex guidelines for financial aid and advising; evaluate academic transcripts and complete official degree and graduation checks
*Provide services to students and the general public by resolving student services complaints and concerns, and respond to a variety of general inquiries and requests
*Offer detailed, systematic level of interpreting financial aid regulations for students
*May serve as a lead to staff to include: assign and monitor work; provide guidance to Student Services Specialists, Technicians and others; serve as the resource specialist over multiple areas;take the lead for various projects and tasks that occur in the financial aid office
*Make recommendations for process changes and improvements; prepare reports and conduct data collection
*Organize projects or activities including training, facilitating workshops; attend high school and
*Perform other duties of a similar nature or level as required

Qualifications:
*Bachelor’s Degree in related field and
*One year experience in Financial Aide and Scholarships and
*NASFAA U credential
or
*One year experience in Financial Aid and Scholarships and
*The ability to complete a Bachelor’s degree within one year
*The ability to complete one NASFAA U credential within one year
