Details:
The Financial Aid Advisor plays a key role in promoting student success at Yavapai College. This position may include some telework in combination with work on campus based upon departmental needs.

Job Responsibilities include work in the following areas:
- Financial Aid advising for students and parents district wide.
- Primary contact for a cohort of students and families, including professional judgement and student loan certification.
- Monitor and review COVID-19 Withdrawals to determine if they qualify for CARES act regulatory relief, review and correct weekly discrepancy reports and late start reports updating student accounts as needed
- Process financial aid awards for students while adhering to all Federal, State and Institutional rules and regulations.
- Maintain and update Financial Aid policies and procedures as required by law,.
- Award HEERF I, II & Ill emergency grants to students, in accordance with regulation and YC objectives.
- Primary contact for the AAUW and Americorps.
- Work with the Director and Financial Aid Specialist to provide audit backup and documentation as needed.
- Primary contact for Dependency override decisions and Department of ED Financial Aid application rejects including Unusual Enrollment History, Loan default, etc.
- Review students financial aid files to determine eligibility for federal, state and institutional aid.
- Analyze tax and other income related documents to complete verification in compliance with federal regulations to award aid including grant programs.
- Exercise professional judgment in evaluating and processing Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP), BudgeUContribution, and dependent status appeals to reevaluate eligibility based on extenuating circumstances within the Department of Education guidelines.
- Download student financial aid applications (FAFSA) from the Department of Education and submit changes/corrections.
- Other duties as resigned.

Qualifications:
MINIMUM EXPECTATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

- Associates Degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field and two years experience at the technician level or above in a financial aid office at a post secondary educational institution
- High level of organizational ability, problem solving skills and interpersonal skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- High level of computer proficiency



PREFERRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:

- Bachelors Degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field
- Familiarity with Banner financial aid management software
- Experience working in related Student Affairs departments, including Registration, and Veterans Services
- Experience working in a community college setting
- Knowledge of Yavapai College programs and services
- Professional experience in a community college/higher education work environment.
