PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: Under the general direction of the Executive Director of Financial Aid & Scholarships the Financial Aid Functional Analyst is vital member of the department's internal systems team and assists with day-to-day systems operations. Provides technical support for the Financial Aid & Scholarships office related to updating, maintenance, and troubleshooting processes with PeopleSoft campus solutions.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES: The Functional Analyst assists the financial aid team in meeting crucial deadlines, solves problems, and communicates updates and resolutions with internal and external teams. The incumbent sends and receives files from the Department of Education's (ED) Common Origination and Disbursement (COD) system, CPS and NSLDS and the California Student Aid Commission's (CSAC) Webgrants system; imports and exports files to/from PeopleSoft and Campus Logic; troubleshoots and responds to issues reported by internal staff; assists with new award year set-up and year-end close out activities which involve running year-end reports and is responsible to research financial aid regulations and develop business solutions and as needed, document policy and procedures; assists in software testing of new and existing functionality due to software upgrades and critical fixes. Assists in accurately configuring and maintaining run controls for financial aid manual processes and batch automated jobs for the weekly production schedule; assists in identifying database issues and the implementation of a resolution; interacts with various members of campus including Admissions & Recruitment, Registrar’s Office, Student Business Services and Information Technology Services. Researches and develops new strategic approaches and solutions; provides project leadership and assists in writing specifications for needed software, fixes and modifications. Facilitates cross-departmental communication to ensure flow of data. Collaborates with Financial Aid & Scholarships staff end users to identify needs and develops documentation for new and existing functionality. Works closely with individuals within and outside the Financial Aid & Scholarships Offices to coordinate and improve reporting processes and provide timely customer service.
Performs additional related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISOR/OTHER WORK RELATIONSHIPS: This position resides in Enrollment Management and reports directly to the Executive Director of Financial Aid & Scholarships and works very closely with the Senior Financial Aid Systems Analyst. In addition, works independently and in collaboration with other analysts across campus, Enrollment Services, Information Technology Services (ITS) and financial aid staff.

Qualifications:
REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: A bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in a job-related field. Equivalent to two (2) years of full-time, technical, analytical, or administrative experience. Additional experience in job-related field may be substituted for required education, on a year for year basis. Working knowledge of general practices, program, and/or administrative specialty. Working knowledge of financial aid (preferably with PeopleSoft/Oracle, OnBase and the CSU) and development and maintenance of systems solutions. Ability and specialized skills to: interpret, and apply a wide variety of policies and procedures; perform basic research and statistical analysis; analyze data and make accurate projections using business mathematics and basic statistics; compile, write and present reports related to program or administrative specialty; communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Proficient in using standard office and financial software (PeopleSoft/Oracle; OnBase; Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) Excellent verbal, written communication and mathematical skills. Ability to organize and plan work and projects, including handling multiple priorities. Ability to research, analyze data, and provide results to leadership. Experience and proficiency using MS Office applications and experience with the following systems preferred: PeopleSoft, COD, EdConnect, and Webgrants.
