Details:
University of California San Diego - one of the most prominent research universities in the world with an enrollment of over 40,000 students - seeks a new Director of Financial Aid and Scholarships.

At the University of California San Diego, a commitment to innovation and taking the path less traveled are guiding principles. The new director will arrive in a remarkable context of growth: For the incoming class of 2022, UC San Diego received more than 151,000 applications - the second highest in the nation. Reporting directly to Jim Rawlins, associate vice chancellor of enrollment management, the director of financial aid and scholarships will serve as a member of AVC's senior leadership team, which establishes short and long-range plans, and implements and evaluates resources, systems, and programs to support the enrollment management mission.

The director will also be responsible for operational oversight and management of the internal operations of the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office including fund procurement, management, communications, and timely delivery of aid to students. The director oversees an office consisting of 36 staff and manages an operational budget of nearly $4 million across multiple fund sources, and oversees the allocation of human, financial, and physical resources for the department. The director annually leads the execution of over $550 million in financial aid and scholarship programs for over 40,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students. The director has responsibility for the supervision of all financial aid processes, and will serve as a day-to-day leader in helping to achieve the university’s enrollment goals.

As a leader at one of the top public institutions in the country, the director of financial aid and scholarships will navigate a large, complex, and service-oriented operation. A deep understanding of the financial aid landscape and its ongoing changes and an ability to adapt a strategy to accommodate those developments will be foundational qualities for the next leader. UCSD is a highly collaborative environment, and the successful candidate will be a generous and diplomatic communicator who excels at bringing stakeholders together. A bachelor's degree is required; an advanced degree is preferred. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of experience in financial aid.

UC San Diego students learn that knowledge isn’t just acquired in the classroom - life is their laboratory. With annual research expenditures of $1.45 billion and revenues of more than $6.1 billion, UC San Diego is an academic powerhouse and economic engine, recognized as one of the top 10 public universities by U.S. News & World Report and ranked number one in the nation for public service by Washington Monthly.
