The Department of Family Medicine and Public Health Sciences at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit has been nationally ranked in the top 20 primary care departments for NIH funding in each of the past five years and is also the home of MetroNet, a primary care practice-based research network. In addition, the Department sponsors multiple educational and training programs, including a CEPH-accredited MPH program and three ACGME-accredited residency programs.

Qualifications:
We seek collegial faculty who have an earned doctorate in biostatistics or a related discipline prior to start date. An MPH degree is a plus. A minimum of one-year teaching experience is required, and online teaching experience is highly desirable. Interests in clinical trial designs, methods and analyses are desirable; related research interests will also be considered. We value diversity and seek individuals committed to inclusive practices in education. Rank is open at the level of an assistant or associate professor, depending on qualifications. Salary and benefits are competitive and commensurate with credentials and experience.

The successful faculty candidate is expected to develop/continue an independent research program and to collaborate with other faculty members in the Department. Areas of research with relevance for the Department’s mission include health services research, comparative effectiveness trials, disease prevention and health equity promotion. Successful candidates will show potential to obtain external support for research through competitive grants and to communicate the results to the biostatistics, or related public health communities. Teaching responsibilities include graduate level courses such as biostatistics and advanced statistical programming. The position also carries responsibilities for advising graduate students, and contributing to program development and service activities in the department.
