Job Location: Online Employment Type: Flexible working (8h per week) Salary: Based on local salary range Supervision: Co-supervised by two members of the ISEE Policy Committee and mentored by an SNRN member Seniority Level: Entry Level Job Category: Staff or fellowship (to suit candidate) Overview: ISEE seeks a talented, motivated, and creative civic engagement officer to support the ISEE’s advocacy and civic engagement work. The candidate will have demonstrated skills in science communication, project management and organization of high-level events. They will work closely with the ISEE policy committee and be involved in all policy-relevant initiatives organized. The ideal candidate will have an excellent command of English, be a good organizer and communicator, and will have demonstrable administrative and communication experience. The civic engagement officer will be involved in supporting the work of the ISEE policy committee and coordinating the communication strategy of their initiatives, with the possibility of expansion to other committees’ work. They will also assist the publication process of articles and papers, and their dissemination on different media outlets. Interest in and experience with journalism, public health policy, public relations and science communication are a plus yet not essential. They will be co-supervised by two members of the ISEE Policy Committee and mentored by an SNRN member.


General responsibilities
● Contribute to the development of a communication and civic engagement strategy for ISEE
● Help organize policy-related events during the annual ISEE conference
● Promote ISEE work internally (newsletter, twitter…)
● Liaise with the communications committee and Secretariat
● Build a coherent, easy, and sustainable system to post and advertise volunteering opportunities and coordinate the hiring efforts

For each initiative led by the policy (or other) committee…

● Develop a brief communication strategy
● Map out relevant project partners and collaborators
● Prepare content for different media outlets (social media, newsletter…)
● Support the ISEE-WHO collaboration’s obligations including coordinating ISEE participation in the annual WHO general assembly, identify priorities and timelines
● Coordinate recruitment of volunteers for specific initiatives


Qualifications:
Qualifications
● Relevant work experience.
● Excellent English language written and oral communication skills; a second language desirable
● Strong social media proficiency, particularly within the professional context.
● Experience with Microsoft suite
● Experience and interest in civil engagement and advocacy.
● Strong administrative and organizational skills, with high attention to detail.
● Demonstrated initiative and ability to work well with a team in a dynamic environment and ability to work independently and proactively.
● Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to work well with senior officials, scholars, journalists, staff, and interns.
