The Office of Financial Aid is seeking an Assistant Director. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position. Serves as a member of the management team that is committed to providing exceptional customer service and promoting diversity both internally as an office and externally serving students and families. This position contributes to policy development and program management of Title IV federal student aid which requires strong written and oral communication, organizational and time management skills. This position has lead work responsibilities, managing programs as described in the “position duties” of this announcement. This position has supervisory responsibilities and direct reports.

50% PROGRAM MANAGEMENT
Manages federal financial aid verification processing and conflicting information review. Conducts training and ensures compliance with institutional and federal financial aid verification and student eligibility regulations and policies.
Conducts internal review audits to ensure verification compliance.
Monitors subsequent ISIR records and corrections for accuracy and conflicting information.
Manages areas of student eligibility and professional judgement.
Leads and monitors the processing of change in income requests through special condition procedures.
Maintains current and updated training procedures, webpage content, student notifications and verification forms.

20% PROCESSING FINANCIAL AID APPLICATIONS (FAFSA)
Responsible for all activities related to processing financial aid files:
Knowledge of and ability to work with computer supported system for completing FAFSA applications requirements on-line. Contributes to development of needs analysis policies and procedures in compliance with regulations determines financial need within Federal congressional methodology formula. Determines appropriate family income adjustments within federal “needs analysis” guidelines and verification requirements.
Determines appropriate student budget adjustments, invokes professional judgment to determine financial need for special and/or extenuating circumstances, determines eligibility for and type of Federal, State and institutional financial aid programs. May review Satisfactory Academic progress to evaluate a student’s eligibility for continued aid assistance within federal financial aid program guidelines.

20% ADVISING
Advising students and families in understanding the financial aid process and the various types of aid programs, and in preparing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Works with others university services across campus to support students.
Counsels’ students with academic difficulties related to meeting federally required Satisfactory Academic Progress requirements as a financial aid recipient.
Advise students, family, university personnel, community groups and agency personnel who inquire about financial aid programs and aid opportunities.
Support other OSU departments and outside agencies with financial aid presentations and outreach efforts.

5% SUPERVISORY
Performs supervisory responsibilities for direct reporting staff. Plans, assigns, and approves work.
Completes annual performance evaluations for direct reports. Monitors direct report’s leave balances and approves time sheets.
Provide mentoring and professional development opportunities.

5% OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists management team with various reports, special assignments, and other duties as assigned. Works evenings and weekends as needed.
Continue professional development with participation in state, regional and national professional membership(s) within the association(s) for financial aid administrators. Attends professional workshops/training as needed to maintain knowledge of federal student financial aid programs and scholarship opportunities.


Qualifications:
Minimum/Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Student Service Administration, Business, or other related field.
A minimum of three years of experience working in a Financial Aid Office.
Current working knowledge of Title IV financial aid programs and regulations.
A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions.

Preferred (Special) Qualifications:Master’s Degree is Student Service Administration, Business, or other related field.
Fluent in a second language, preferably Spanish.
Previous experience as a financial aid advisor or Assistant Director.
