Background
The Till Lab at York University in Toronto seeks a highly motivated candidate for an NIH-funded post-doctoral fellowship in the field of children’s environmental health. This is a two-year appointment, with possibility of an extension.
The post-doctoral fellow will join a growing team that investigates the neurodevelopmental effects of early-life exposure to environmental chemicals. Use of primary teeth to reconstruct exposure history in children and identify sensitive windows of exposure to fluoride will be the main area of research focus. Specifically, the post-doctoral fellow will quantify prenatal and early childhood fluoride exposure levels using primary teeth and test whether dentin fluoride is associated with neurodevelopmental outcomes. This work will be conducted using a Canadian pregnancy and birth cohort called the Maternal Infant Research on Environmental Contaminants (MIREC) study.
The lab is a highly collaborative environment. The post-doctoral fellow will work closely with Drs. Till and Lanphear and environmental health scientists from diverse backgrounds including dental science, epidemiology, endocrinology and biostatistics.

Overall Purpose
In collaboration with our research team, the candidate will lead a high-quality research project that will advance our research on fluoride neurotoxicity. The candidate will have opportunities to conduct research on other related topics, such as mechanisms of fluoride neurotoxicity, including disruption to thyroid hormones and immunotoxicity, and interactions with maternal nutrition.

Key Responsibilities
The post-doctoral fellow will be responsible for carrying out large-scale statistical analyses, applying novel statistical approaches, leading research projects, writing manuscripts in collaboration with co-investigators, mentoring graduate and undergraduate students, contributing to knowledge dissemination of our research, and maintaining active collaborations with other labs and universities.

Qualifications:
Candidates should have:
- an MD or PhD in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Psychology, or another relevant discipline.
- previous research experience in environmental health.
- advanced skills in quantitative statistics; analysis of longitudinal cohort studies is highly desirable.
- good analytical and computations skills

The position requires excellent written and oral communication skills with proficiency in English, exceptional organizational skills, strong time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines. The candidate should have a strong work ethic, function well as part of a team, and be able to take a proactive and independent approach to learning. Experience in collaborating with international scientific networks is an asset.
