Interview with Business Owner Kimberly Harper

An online raffle led business owner and nurse practitioner Kimberly Harper to invest in what she thought were cute and exciting bags. “My first 20 bags sold very quickly.”

Excited and experienced in boutiques since 2017 in Dallas, Harper adapted to the pandemic and raffled goods online. “I would sell them from my house during my Facebook lives and I just took off on its own.”

“I got excited when the bags came in, and people were like, ‘Oh my, look at these!’” said Harper.

Harper is the biggest distributor of Maria-Victoria bags, originally from Guadalajara, Mexico. However, things became more meaningful after Harper discovered the story behind Maria-Victoria.

The story tells of two women, Paulina Nava and Carolina Sandoval, shared their experience of miscarriage. Sandoval suffered a miscarriage and almost lost her life due to a bleeding syndrome and Nava miscarried due to an autoimmune disease. As a result, they named the brand after their ‘angel babies.’

H & L by Maria Victoria has been open for about four weeks in the Franke Plaza in the same center as Gabriela’s and Yummies. “Maria Victoria bags are all 100% recycled PVC plastic. Most of the store is handcrafted from recycled materials. I also enjoy and love this product because of the support I receive from the owners,” said Harper noting the relationship she’s developed with the co-founders.

“Everything was worth that smile you can put on someone’s face, even if it’s just because the bags are pretty,” said Harper.
