Life traveler Carole Boyd was born in Texas and has lived in several states and Venezuela. Boyd attended the University of Oklahoma and studied psychology, arts, and sciences, and minored in philosophy, dance, and physical education. “I’ve always been into arts, but I’ve never done painting because girls didn’t take art back then.” |

After picking up the guitar and singing in high school, she traveled around and entertained as a singer-songwriter and played the twelve-string guitar. “I started traveling with different hotel groups performing, and I ended up in New York City. I had a contract with Paramount Productions.” |

After finding out songs she and another artist worked on were used without their permission by famous artists, Boyd decided to become an attorney. “I decided that I wanted to go to law school and learn more about contract law.”

Spending a portion of her life as a creative, Boyd stumbled across Microsoft Paint while on hold for an attorney in 2002. She thought she’d draw until they took her off hold. “So, I did a little landscape.” |

Growing up around horses, and later owning as many as eighteen horses, Boyd admired them greatly. “Back then, the only thing I ever did as a child was draw horses with pencils.” Soon Boyd’s work took off as she started digitally painting on Microsoft Word and worked with the outdated program to make what became award-winning art. |

Pioneering Digital Art
After being ignored by the art world, Boyd asked galleries to consider the fact that people buy her work. “I sold a lot of paintings to people but have never been able to get into a museum, and most of the competitions exclude digital paintings.” Comparing Digital painting to photography, which she says was not a fine art back in the day, “It was oil pastel, acrylic. That was it.”
The purpose of the Art Show & Sale, according to Boyd, was to acquaint the community with her art, “which is different,” she says. Throughout her journey as an artist, Boyd struggled to gain acceptance as a digital painter. “Digital art was not accepted into museums or contests, but people liked it.” |

Boyd looks forward to joining the art community and hopes to find peers with open minds to appreciate her art. “Anyone who has an open mind tends to like it.”
Boyd is an island attorney for the Franke Law Firm (8605 Padre Blvd.) and moved to the Bayview area in 2017 to be warm and by the sea. |
