Waterfront Sunset Deck at Jim’s Pier

Skipjack Properties LLC projected design plans.

The Green is bringing a new look to its popular spot next to Jim's Pier.

Lorenzo Galvan, the property manager for Skip Jack Inc., has revealed new plans that will be unveiled in the spring of 2023.

"Our stakeholders are always looking to improve and have invested here greatly on the Island," he said. "They always have great ideas."

The vision for the property is to create a destination food truck park that also compliments The Green. The park recently adopted a family-friendly environment where groups can gather to watch fireworks.

"They'll have a blanket on the ground and kids running around without worrying about cars," Galvan said about The Green’s ambiance.

The food truck park’s design aims to have tall wave shade structures, colorful patio furniture, and room for around ten food trucks.

"That is contingent on the city," Galvan said, recalling the number of food trucks allowed on the island.

Mixed reviews about food trucks and permits have spread in recent years. The city became involved in a local food truck lawsuit requiring expensive permitting and permission from brick-and-mortar businesses that sought to limit the number of food trucks operating on the island.

Current construction site underway projected to be open spring 2023.

Galvan is hopeful about the project and is glad to be a part of the effort. The most exciting part of the project for the property manager is that it will be an addition to the Entertainment District and will add a family-friendly atmosphere.

The food truck park will be an open area to relax, watch a sunset, grab a drink, and lounge around. In the future, Galvan hinted at a soft music scenery or a cello player.
