Last night at about 11pm, after a call to city police about a personal vehicle on the beach up near Isla Grand, a pair of police units came out to investigate and located the group.
The Chevrolet Trailblazer had been driving upwards of 40mph, making s-shape turns, and performing donut on the sand in city limits. Imagine if their had been a couple sitting on the sand watching the water, as I have seen many times. There is a big possibility of them getting run over.
When the police arrived and confronted the group, they stopped the erratic driving in the city limits and were escorted by two patrol units to a location where they could exit the city beach. The vehicle slowed down approaching the exit and as would be expected got stuck. A wrecker had to arrive on scene to pull them out and probably impound the vehicle. Driving personal vehicles within city limits is still illegal and people should respect the laws in place to protect people from enjoying the safety of city beach accesses.
