It seems like now there is a yoga studio in every city. The surge in popularity is not because of luck or trends, but instead an age-old practice that has been passed down for generations on generations. This small practice became very popular over recent years because of simple benefits that come with it.
Yoga has become increasingly popular today because of the benefits that come from it. People who do yoga feel less stress and have a better sense of well-being. It has also been known to “alleviate symptoms of anxiety and depression while promoting good physical fitness.” It has also been shown to improve sleep quality.
Yoga comes from the Sanskrit word for ‘union’ which is talking about the union of the spirit, body, and mind. The combination of postures (called asanas) and breathing techniques (called pranayama) and mediation all combine to strengthen the union of the mind-body-spirit.
Yoga takes a different approach to fitness by not necessarily lifting heavy weights or asserting force, but by instead aligning your body intrinsically. You are using your mind and body as one as you go through different difficult stances and poses while you control your breathing and make your body work as one.
One of the main reasons why yoga has become so popular is because of its inclusivity. Anyone can do yoga classes! Yoga can be done by younger and older people. It can be done by people who are athletic, or it can be done by the heaviest lifters in the gym. The way it can manipulated is by practicing different Asanas (stances). The Asanas can be changed to work around injuries or any type of illnesses.
The goal when it comes to yoga is to bring your body together and feel good while you do it. It Is meant to rid the stress from your body and just focus on getting your body to follow what your mind is set on and making sure your body and mind can work as one.
