What happened: The Planning and Zoning commission will meet at City Hall at 3 p.m. today to discuss lot placement along Padre Beach Subdivisions and short-term rental recommendations to City Council.

Why it matters: The P&Z board meeting will occur during a planned Vacation Rental Managers Association of South Padre Island Conference.

On Feb. 13, the President of the VRMA-SPI, Tom Goodman, wrote a letter to the P&Z board to respectfully request the board table the discussion items since stakeholders will be at the conference.

What now: The P&Z commission meeting will resume today. Yesterday the SPI Board of Realtors sent a letter to its members encouraging involvement in attending the P&Z commission meeting. The letter wrote if individuals cannot participate, to send an email to MMartinez@MySPI.org to request the item on Short-Term Rental (STR) Ordinances be tabled.
