Couch to 5K

How far would you go if you had to jog nonstop until you couldn't run anymore? Depending on your answer, the 'Couch to 5K' may be something you could want to try.

The 'Couch to 5K' is a simplified running program with a simple yet effective way to get moving. Its purpose is to get anyone - whether healthy or unhealthy, overweight or in shape - to run 5000 meters.

The basis of this running program is being short and effective. If you begin this program today, you will be ready to hit the starting line of a 5K in 8-10 weeks, regardless of your current fitness level. This program also does not focus on speed and running for time. Instead, the focus is on starting and finishing without stopping.

In 'Couch to 5K,' you run 3-4 times a week. On each run, you run intervals. The intervals will be time-based, and the runner will alternate between jogging and walking. The first week will be the easiest. You will run for 1 minute and walk for 1 minute and 30 seconds for 20 minutes. Over the weeks, you'll progress to running 20 minutes at a time with no break and eventually do the full 5000m without stopping.

This running program has many testimonies because of its simplicity and success. You are guided on every run by the stopwatch on your phone or watch. All you must do is show up and want to run a 5K at the end of 8-10 weeks.

It is also very successful because it allows the runner to run at their speed. You don't have to be running at a set pace or time. You need to be able to run as much as you can, at the speed you can, without stopping.
