What happened: A motion to approve a letter of support for Senate Bill 2026. And it's identical companion of Texas House Bill 3859, regarding a proposal as legislation for partially approving beach access plans and amendments.
"The City of Galveston worked really hard to get these amended because at one point on, they're talking about basically restricting our ability to do beach nourishment," said McNulty.
Why it matters: SB 2026 and HB 3859 allow the Texas General Land Office (GLO) to give partial approval to Dune Protection and Beach Access plans so "Coastal communities can move forward with amendments to facilitate effective and efficient compliance with the law."
What now: No letter signed by the council nor the mayor was included in the City's agenda.
"Anyway, we've been asked to write letters in support of these bills," said McNulty.

What happened: A motion to approve a budget amendment from the General Fund Excess Reserves for $49,960.00 to relocate a 24" RCP on the West Side of Ling Street.
Why it matters: In the agenda request form by Public Works Director Alex Sanchez, the project was bided out twice and received only one bid on the second bid request—the plans dated back to 12/27/2022.
The 24" Reinforced Concrete Pipe (RCP) on the West Side of Ling Street was requested of the City by a property owner to be relocated towards "the north parallel to the west right-of-way line of Laguna Blvd and turn towards the bay," wrote Sanchez.
The drawings were done by Meija & Rose Incorporated, an engineering and Surveying firm in Brownsville.

What happened: A motion to approve the preliminary designs for beach access improvements at Fantasy Circle, partially funded by the Coastal Management Program (CMP) 's Cycle 27.
Why it matters: The preliminary designs for the Emergency drive-over and beach access improvements at Fantasy Circle were recommended for approval by the Shoreline Task Force (SLTF) Emergency drive-over improvements at Beach
Green, Rubiano & Associates, a Consulting and Structural Engineering firm in Harlingen, executed the designs.
